Educational Aims

Ian Bracher delivers our hands on course where he will share with you the basic functions of Exocad software. This Course is aimed at Technicians who have no previous CAD experience, and wish to learn how to get started with designing C&B restorations.

We will cover the basic functions and tools in Exocad software. Demonstrate how to use different areas of the software to design restorations digitally. Working on your own laptop, you will learn new skills on how to use the Exocad software. The expert tuition delivered on this course will ensure you can return to your lab or surgery and be able to practice simple C&B designs in Exocad.

Development Outcome

This CPD Course meets the criteria for the GDC’s development outcome C,  Maintenance and development of knowledge and skill within your field of practice.

Learning Outcomes

  • Navigate the Exocad interface confidently
  • Understand how to use the parameters and settings
  • Import digital scans and identify common scan issues
  • Create basic models and prepare files for 3D printing
  • Design a simple crown, veneer, inlay/onlay using Exocad
  • Understand how to use freeform tools
  • Understand how to use the virtual articulator

 

 

Academy Digital Trainer- Ian Bracher RDT

Ian has been a dental technician for over 30 years, mainly as a Crown and Bridge specialist.

For more than 15 years, Ian has worked at Halo Dental Laboratory, where he became a digital technician thanks to the company’s ongoing investment in technology. ​He works as a Digital Trainer for the ALS Academy, supporting technicians and clinicians across the ALS Dental group. For the past two years, Ian has delivered digital training through the ALS Academy providing courses on Exocad.

Passions include family, football, and sharing my knowledge with others. ​He also aspirer’s to travel more, run on different beaches, and enjoy local dishes.
