Dr Sonil Kalia is registered as Specialist Orthodontist in the UK, Germany, Denmark and Switzerland. Dr Kalia is a specialist in orthodontics and a clinical instructor in Orthodontics.
Based in Germany, Dr Kalia developed his implant specialist private practice (F.I.C.O.I. fellow), before embarking on a 3 year Specialist Orthodontic programme under Prof. Birte Melsen in Aarhus Denmark where he was awarded an MSc and Orthodontic specialisation degree.
With over 25 years working with clear aligners Dr Kalia has a wealth of knowledge and experience to help practitioners with their clear aligner practice. Dr Kalia has worked with many of the leading clear aligner brands and can demystify the marketing hype from the clinical essentials required for treating patients with clear aligners successfully.
Having recently sold his multi chair orthodontic practices in the UK and Germany Dr Kalia is now in a position to pass on his knowledge and experience to his fellow clinicians.

Educational Aims

This Clear Aligner Evening aims to equip participants with the essential knowledge and skills necessary to proficiently plan, execute, and manage clear aligner treatment. Participants will gain knowledge of treatment planning, case selection, and patient communication, empowering them to deliver high-quality care and achieve optimal outcomes for their patients.

Development Outcome

This CPD Course meets the criteria for the GDC’s development outcome C, Maintenance and development of knowledge and skill within your field of practice.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the principles of clear aligner therapy
  • Develop treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs, considering factors such as malocclusion severity, tooth movement requirements, and aesthetic goals.
  • Know how to identify suitable candidates for clear aligner treatment through thorough assessment and diagnosis of malocclusions, dental conditions, and patient preferences.
  • Understand how to communicate treatment options, expectations, and potential outcomes clearly and effectively to patients, fostering trust and collaboration throughout the treatment journey.
  • Recognize and address common challenges and complications that may arise during clear aligner treatment, such as tracking issues, attachment failure, and patient compliance issues.
  • Be aware of the latest advancements and research in clear aligner orthodontics, ensuring ongoing professional growth and enhancement of clinical skills.
  • Know how to practice clear aligner therapy with integrity, adhering to ethical standards and utilising evidence-based approaches to achieve optimal patient outcomes while prioritising patient safety and satisfaction.
  • Understand an overview of IPR and attachment placement.
