ALS invests in Ashford

Throughout 2021 and into 2022, ALS has invested in Ashford Orthodontics to make them the first automated orthodontics lab in the UK. The focus has been on aligner manufacturing, particularly the 3D printing and machine trimming of aligners.

An automated cell of world-leading Rapid ShapeD100 printers are currently being installed on-site and will be shortly followed by a world-leading automatic trimming machine Digital Dental 5.

To compound this great investment in technology, ALS has recruited highly experienced engineer Gabriela Mikulcova from Nissan automotive. Gabriela will provide the expertise and experience to follow ALS’s drive to advance lab technology in providing better products and services. The new technology capability moves Ashford onto a different level in volume capacity and uniform accuracy of every appliance.

To enable this, continued lab expansion has also been provided to triple the size of our current site, allowing for more growth and a much-improved open plan and spacious working environment for team members. Digital dentistry is growing rapidly, enabling us to move away from traditional lab elements and provide that future feel to where we believe labs are moving towards and where we all at ALS see the future of our industry.
