Charlie qualified as a Dental Technician in 1974 and established Dental Technique Laboratory Ltd in 1989, where he has spent the last thirty years building the business into one of the top dental laboratories in Scotland. Charlie sat on the Scottish Dental Workforce Review Board from 2009 – 2013.

Charlie has also held a number of voluntary positions as part of the Rotary, Chamber of Commerce and the Society of High Constables of the City of Perth. An extremely accomplished sportsman Charlie has represented Scotland at Badminton and Perth & Kinross in golf. A firm supporter of St Johnstone FC, he was honoured to be asked to join the Board of Directors in 2004, a position he held for six years.

Charlie resides in Perth with his wife Jane, and has two sons; Ross, a Naval Officer and Matthew, a sports journalist.
