Norwich Orthodontics was opened in 2008 by Derek Sandell former Oral Health Laboratory Manager at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. Initially Derek founded the company in the garage, growing the customer base steadily.

In 2010 the laboratory moved to a new purpose-built facility on an industrial estate in Sprowston, Norwich, which was the laboratory’s home until 2020 when the laboratory moved to its current location at Hethel Engineering Centre, close to the UK head office and factory of Lotus Cars. In September 2020 Norwich Orthodontics also appointed a second Director, Vanessa Day.

The brand new facilities at Hethel include shared access to on-site conference and event meeting facilities, one of the rooms of which has a Lotus F1 car suspended from the wall.

The company has also recently invested in its 3D printing suite to provide additional 3D printing capacity to meet demand.  As a result in 2021, the company’s production of orthodontic appliances from intra-oral scans increased in excess of 51% in 2020.

Today the business is led by Director Vanessa and has a young, vibrant and dynamic team. The laboratory prides itself on its team-working philosophy and is passionate about developing and upskilling employees.

Looking to the future, the company is keen to continue to embrace and develop the use of CAD/CAM technology within the Orthodontic market sector.
